When I wrote in November about the top 3 technologies that would steal the show at CES 2016, I left one glaring hole.
No, it wasn’t that hoverboards were banned from the show (which, by the way, we saw!).
Rather, it was the massive, immersive presence of virtual reality. If there’s one wave that technology companies are seeking to ride, VR is it.
From Oculus, the clear leader in the space, to super-high-end readers and frames, including ones from Vrone that boast crystal-clear ZEISS precision optics, to drone-enabled and connected headsets, CES has everything VR that one could possibly imagine. And, of course, don’t forget the wacky and weird.
Of all the VR products and developments, the most striking was the close relationship forged by VR and drones. Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising. As drones give us video perspectives that we never thought possible, it’s only natural that we’d want to experience this media as realistically as we can. A great HD camera, a well-built app, and your trusty VR headset can make it all happen.
